Tips on choosing a Bridal Tiara.
- First and foremost is: first choose your gown, then choose your accessories to compliment it and you. After all, your finished look will reflect on who you are and your sense of elegance to all your guests on your special day.
- Having a good idea of a hairstyle that you like will usually help in deciding on the headpiece. The best place to find different hairstyles are in bridal magazines.
- Match the type of sparkle in your gown with the sparkle in your accessories. Use crystals with crystals, rhinestones with rhinestones and pearls with pearls, etc. Look for a headpiece with similar detailing. Gold-tone or ivory pearl-accented tiaras are a good compliment to ivory gowns, while silver-tone, rhinestone, and white pearl tiaras best compliment the tones of a white gown. Diamond white gowns (diamond white is in between white and off-white, that is, just barely off-white) are a good match for either gold or silver.
- Keep in mind that tiaras are not just for the bride; they are perfect for bridesmaids as well. To give your wedding party a special look, the attendants can compliment the bride's ensemble by wearing a smaller or simpler version of the bride's tiara or choose from our beautiful selection of vintage floral barrettes which she can use even after the wedding.
- If you have short hair you will want to decide on a lighter, more delicate tiara that will not require lots of pinning to hold it in place. Brides with shorter hair look best in headband styles or tiaras with a smaller shaped comb.
Bridal Tiaras and Celebrities
Hollywood celebrity brides like Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson wore bridal tiaras on their wedding day. Jennifer Beals wore a bridal tiara crested with beautiful, fully opened white flowers. Bridal tiaras and combs are the most popular hair accessories worn by celebrity brides. Some of our bridal tiaras are crafted with Swarovski crystals, glass pearls and plated with 14-karat gold or rhodium. Today's bridal fashions tend to have clean silhouettes, a perfect complement to more decorative bridal and wedding tiaras. Our bridal tiaras are so glamorous that some of our clients prefer to call our bridal tiaras "hair jewelry."
The tiara, of course, was the original credit card and worked as a visual tag to show social status or rank or as a means of offering tribute to the deities. Relied on by the women (and men) of ancient Greece and Rome as a form of adornment for special occasions, the original tiara (called the diadem - from the Greek diadem - to bind around) took the form of bound foliage and flowers, and later precious-metal bands encrusted with jewels.
But what is more intriguing and touching is how many tiaras were not made for status, but were tokens of love between men and women, fathers and daughters, and brides and grooms. Prince Albert designed at least four tiaras for Queen Victoria, which she could not bear to wear after his death; Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother loved the diamond wild-rose tiara her father gave her when she married the Duke of York. Even Posh Spice had one made for her wedding to footballer David Beckham.
Tips: If veils are chosen, be sure they are detachable for more fun at the reception. “Go into the search for the perfect bridal tiara with a sense of adventure about it”. It's really fun. And remember, it's you who is making the decision. I always tell my brides, 'Let's find the perfect thing for you.'" |
